Using Thesis Papers to Write a Dissertation Proposal

Why a Thesis Proposal Works

Writing a dissertation can be very challenging if you are unfamiliar with the requirements. Students sometimes use research papers as the blueprint for composing a dissertation proposal. A thesis is a comprehensive analysis of your study project. It provides the whole story by exploring a study question and addressing it comprehensively. A writer must tailor-make a dissertation proposal to meet the specific objectives and use of sources to answer the questions.

Compiling the Proposal

Most dissertations follow the general structure for similar projects. The proposal also follows this structure. Here is the general structure that is common when creating a dissertation proposal:

  • Title – This is written at the beginning of your dissertation proposal.
  • Abstract – An overview of your work, mainly related to your study area and cover some background information about the subject.
  • Introduction – This is a summary of what the paper is about and gives background information about the study area.
  • Literature Review – Develops a short list of sources about your research topic and discusses any gaps and current issues. Focus on a few sources to give a more detailed account of the overall project.
  • List of Figures and Tables – This section contains all the tables that form the body of your paper.
  • Literature Review and Methodology – Provides a detailed description of the methods that you will use for your research. You also describe the procedure to be used to get data. You also make a comparison with other studies and take other tips as to how to improve on the research and collect more reliable data.
  • Research Question and a Data Collection Methodology – This section explains the questions you intend to answer in the research. The purpose is to ensure that you leave no stone unturned when deciding what to do.
  • Selecting a Research Design and a Research Question – explains the selection methods to use and gives the argument to use for your research and questions.
  • A Proper Plan for the Research and Methods of Data Collection – Includes what you will do, when you will do it, the strategies you will use, and how you plan to get reliable data.
  • The Conclusion – This section summarizes the key points of your dissertation and provides an assessment of how the research will impact the study area.

H2: Perks of Writing a Dissertation Proposal

Using a thesis proposal gives the student all the privileges and assures a smooth writing and creating process. It has all the equipment for writing a superb dissertation. It is useful in telling the writing supervisor the answer to the research question and focuses them on what to expect in the dissertation. It also provides the help you need to get a proper structure for your paper.

Writing the Proposal

When writing a proposal for a dissertation, the structure is not the same as a research paper. Here are the sections that go into a proposal:

  1. Title Page – This has a title, date and the writer’s name.
  2. Abstract – This section states the problem of your paper and gives background information.
  3. List of Figures – Shows all the table and figures to be used in the research
  4. Data Presentation and discussion – This part states why and where you intend to use the data.
  5. Conclusion – This is a summary of the previous sections in the proposal and summarizes them.
